Styles of music we perform: Sacred

St Peter's Cathedral Choir is established in the Anglican Choral tradition. It provides music for weekly worship at St Peter's Cathedral, singing at 10:30am Choral Eucharist and 6:00pm Choral Evensong most Sundays of the year, and with additional services and concerts at Easter, Christmas, and other times during the year. The soprano line is sung by trebles, mixed boys and girls ages 7-16; the alto, tenor, and bass sections are sung by men and women, aged 15 to 65. The choir sings a huge repertoire of music, often with only minimal rehearsal, with the expectation that adults singers bring a good level of sight-reading to the choir, and the children are taught to improve their sight-reading whilst in the choir. Participation in the choir is voluntary, although scholarships are available on application for university students who wish to stretch their musicianship, and have fun with a committed group of singers. Other activities include concerts and tours; the choir tours every few years to the UK, their next tour being at the end of 2023.
